(Tokyo, Japan) – DVERSE Inc., a VR software developer (registered in Delaware, US with Shogo Numakura as CEO; here forth, “DVERSE”) announces that it has launched joint trials with Sennheiser Japan K.K., a solely owned Japanese subsidiary of Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG, which is a global audio company specializing in the design and production of a wide range of high fidelity products (Japan Main Office in Minato ward, Tokyo with Shozo Kubo as MD; here forth “Sennheiser”).
The companies have jointly launched PROJECT OMNIVERSE to integrate Sennheiser’s Ambisonics technology with DVERSE’s VR software SYMMETRY alpha, the latter of which reproduces architectural design data in VR. The integration of Sennheiser’s 3D audio inside of VR will further VR sight-and-sound engagement for deeper immersion in VR.
ABOUT PROJECT OMNIVERSE
Auditory perception is an imperative and integral part in deepening the immersive experience of VR. DVERSE and Sennheiser have launched PROJECT OMNIVERSE to focus on advancing 3D spherical-sound simulation inside of VR environments and have commenced trials accordingly.
DVERSE’s flagship software product SYMMETRY is a VR tool developed to facilitate smooth and accurate communication of ideas, designs, and visions – in order to promote efficient workflow management and its key feature as a consensus formation tool for VR.
SENNHEISER has developed AMBEO VR MIC, which captures sound in 3D audio to recreate playback of fully spherical Ambisonics in VR video and 360° content.
Ambisonics can be used to enhance the showcasing of real estate properties in VR, which can heighten the physical sense of experiencing the scale and atmosphere of an indoor apartment or housing space. Adding Impulse Response (IR) technologies can reproduce sound reverberations that echo off of buildings and structures; and is a therefore an optimal tool when designing concert halls, stages, and office spaces.
PROJECT OMNIVERSE will not only merge all of the aforementioned technologies into VR to serve the purpose of recreating true-to-real-life environments, but will also offer audio processing features to create super-real immersive experiences through high-end audio for the entertainment sector.
Comments from Kosuke Osawa
Sennheiser Japan, Marketing Manager
Sennheiser is currently advancing the 3D audio segment on several fronts, among which 3D audio in VR harbors significant potential. For example, not only can original audio recordings from 360° video be removed and isolated with great accuracy, but also sound editing in at the will of the producer, such as expanding, limiting, or adding soundscapes will allow creators to better realize their intent and to convey their stories. We expect this, in turn, will expand the potential of production. We believe that PROJECT OMNIVERSE will redefine the parameters of 3D audio.
About SYMMETRY alpha
SYMMETRY alpha is VR software that easily converts 3D CADs into VR for anyone to view with HMD (head-mount displays) equipment. It is a VR tool developed to facilitate smooth and accurate communication of ideas, designs, and visions in order to promote efficient workflow management and as a consensus formation tool for VR – a key feature. SYMMETRY alpha is currently compatible with 3D modeling software SketchUp by Trimble (a US-based company), with over 30 million activations in just one year.
